  • We should take to the groups the message that we need volunteers to offer service in this area; there are service opportunities available in this area. We are at a crucial time in our district, we need your help.
  •  We are 120 days from the inter-area and we need to know where we are with it. We need to budget and set aside the money. We need to secure the location. New Business:

  • Tom- We need to have a service workshop so that people understand how to get involved and why you need to get involved. Maybe we can boost the interest in this council.
  • MOTION:  to have the April unity council meeting at the senior center following the service workshop. Ted will see if the senior center is going to be available for the 3rd Saturday in April and will notify us at next month’s meeting.
  • We will continue here until we have a firm commitment to meet at another location. We are paying month to month for now.
  • MOTION: to pay the 12 step club a flat rate of $25.00 for each month that we meet here with the exemptions for the months that we do not meet here.
  • Nominations and volunteers are being accepted for the treasurer’s position. No Volunteers or nominations at this time, Gordon and Tom will take on the responsibilities for the time being until the position can be filled.
  • Ted: I would like to change the committee name to the “PIT” committee, Public information committee. Information is available on the website.
  • Any group that wants to host this meeting must physically attend this meeting and give us a 2 month notice in writing of the location and time and directions. This will minimize any confusion and will not disrupt the functionality of this meeting.

D.C.M. Report

  • Tom- The area meeting in Jackson was a very chaotic meeting because there was an agenda change and it didn’t sit well with a lot of people. I sat in as a D.C.M. and represented this committee It will be held in the old format in Ann Arbor on March 2nd.
  • The area balance is $698.00 They are reorganizing and getting a new bank account etc.
  • If there are any changes in your group and you want them changed for the new manual Get the information to Gordon or Mike so they can be forwarded by April 15th.  Service members, meeting etc.

G.S.R. and Group Reports

  • James- Cedar River group Gladwin, we have a new secretary for our group and I hope to see her join us here in April.
  • Lori-B.B. Meeting West Branch, We are having good attendance.
  • Harry- B.B. Meeting Oscoda, coming along just fine.
  • John- Whittemore, we’ve had a changing of the guard, and everything is going along just normal.
  • Randy- Roscommon, going good.
  • Mike- Skidway Lake-Good attendance, new people, going good.
  • Mike- Rose City, Good attendance, new and old sobriety, strong meetings.
  • Ted – Houghton Lake, Planning a 12 step workshop later this year, we have a beginners meeting and we go through all the pamphlets and review what ones are good for the beginner. There is a pamphlet called the A.A. group and I suggest it for an understanding of how the A.A. group works.
  • Tom- Houghton Lake, our winter attendance always suffers because a lot of people go to Florida for the winter months and the weather keeps those at home off the roads.
  • Janeen Standish, Good attendance and good meetings.
  • Gordon, who handles the coins and books and pamphlets at the district level? Most groups handle that at their level and the area has great supply and archives also.
