  • Treasurers Report:  (See Attached)  Current balance $1659.05 there are some pending expenses, $215.00 for rent and deposit for the April workshop at the senior center. We have typical expenses, last month and this month’s rent for $50.00 for this facility and $200.00 contribution to Area and $200.00 contribution to New York and we have monies owed for D.C.M. ($50.00) Secretary ($50.00) and Treasurer ($15.00) All Declined to accept. Our prudent reserve (A.A. Recommended) for this group should be $700.00 to sponsor C.M.I.A., $150.00 for rent to cover 6 months of rent, and $50.00 for coffee and supplies which would be total of $900.00. This reserve should cover any anticipated expenses. Report accepted. (will include with minutes.)
  • Old Business:
  • 1 DCM position is open see Gordon for nominations or volunteers. We need 2 DCM’s and 2Alt. DCM’s.
  •  Please consider having your minutes e-mailed to you to help save on costs.
  •  Treasurer position is open, and we have a nomination for James to pick up the treasurer’s position, Motion to accept-James Accepted and is our new Treasurer!
  • We will continue here until we have a firm commitment to meet at another location. We are paying month to month for now. (2 month notice)
  • Donations are being accepted for the coffee and the hospitality rooms for the 56th Michigan State Convention being held in Midland Michigan August 8-10th 2008
  • We should take to the groups the message that we need volunteers to offer service in this area Of the Unity Council; there are service opportunities available in this area. We are at a crucial time in our district, we need your help.
  •  Meeting list team. Mike- If we support the P.I. committee that will be working on meeting lists and keeping them up to date and available to the public, can we have them look into the meetings from this area that are displayed on the A.A. website and make sure that the Alcoholic who is still suffering can find a meeting when in need? Right now the meetings for this area are not listed there. You can find them if you play around a little but shouldn’t our concern be for the newcomer that is unfamiliar with finding meetings, and make it a little easier for them. Yes this council agrees to have the P.I. committee responsible for making the meeting dates times and locations available off the A.A. website

Arnie, why don’t we have meeting books like we used to have when Most of the meetings that have been asked would like the books and we have a surplus of money right now.

Gordon- each meeting has a representative (G.S.R.) that represents that meeting and they bring the needs of the meeting to be addressed by this group. We addressed that issue and we agreed to post the meeting minutes online to better serve the groups. Each group can then go online and print out the meeting lists and distribute them as needed.

  • Service workshop meeting 10 a.m. Saturday 4 -19 - 08. We have a guest from Atlanta who is a past delegate from area 54, James M. We will cover service, the district and what goes on in the district etc. Please bring a snack to pass.
  • The group is responsible to notify the Area and New York with the group name, meeting dates and times, etc. If you don’t know if your group is registered just fill out the new group form and send it in.

New Business:

  • The area did not have the money to donate to the jails for literature this last month.
  • Monies paid for officers. D.C.M. ($50.00) Secretary ($50.00) and Treasurer ($15.00) All Declined to accept. 2 alt. D.C.M.’s, 1 D.C.M., 1 Secretary, 1Treasurer, equals$265.00 per month and we don’t take that much in. We need to look at what we pay and what we should pay mileage, and costs for paper ink etc. for the secretary, any suggestions or comments.
  • We have saved a ton just by e-mailing the minutes and saving postage, envelopes, ink etc. I suggest $10.00 would more than cover expenses. This can be reopened anytime we feel that things have changed. James, Treasurer my group supports me to attend. Motion:  that all positions will receive no more that $10.00 per month for each position plus expenses. Accepted.
  • Lori-Does this unity council ever pay for mileage to members who want to carpool to meetings like the C.M.I.A.? No Just for the required officers
  • Michelle – We can use the Skidway Lake Senior Center on July 13th from 8-5, it holds 250 people and we do our own clean up and bring our own food for a donation of $50-$75. It’s also open for Sept.7-13th.
  • If we decide to do this, we need to put together a committee that would be responsible for clean up, food, etc. We can save a lot of money over what we are spending now. We also need to look at when we hold our meeting in Gladwin, we have separate rooms and you can hear what is being said as opposed to one room where there is too much noise.  Lori and Michelle will work to find a committee to investigate C.M.I.A.  in July.
  • Committee reports:
  • P.I.  Committee: We are looking at a free web site that will save the district about $80 to $90 per year and we are also looking at setting up stations around the district where people can download and print directories.

D.C.M. Report:

  • Harry - Nothing significant other that no money!
  • The next C.M.I.A. meeting is in Pinckney.

G.S.R. and Group Reports:

  • Nancy from Mount Pleasant will be open speaker tonight at Houghton lake.
